Facilitate Learning (Core Competency
1):
A Fresh Look at Clinical Learning and Evaluation
The purpose of this workshop is to provide nurse educators with strategies
that encourage quality learning in clinical settings. Important aspects of clinical
teaching and evaluation will be covered, along with interactive teaching strategies
that promote active learning. Participants will take home new ideas and methods
for enhancing clinical instruction that can be immediately used in their teaching.
Objectives:
- Discuss the process of learning to become a clinical teacher.
- Describe various philosophies of clinical teaching
- Describe characteristics of an effective clinical teacher.
- Describe various methods for preparing students for caring
for clients in the clinical environment
- Investigate techniques for the development of critical thinking
skills through clinical learning activities.
