Engage in Scholarship
(Core Competency 7):
Writing for Publication
You’ve outlined your ideas and know what you want to write about, but
somehow when you begin to organize your manuscript with the intent of submitting
it for publication, you never get any further. Perhaps you’re not sure
to which journal to submit your manuscript, or the thought of a rejection letter
paralyzes you. So, you hold on to your manuscript. In this session, writing
for publication in nursing is described, and helpful hints and resources are
provided. The workshop includes the steps in preparing a manuscript, guidelines
for selecting an appropriate journal and how it influences your manuscript,
writing different types of articles in nursing, the editorial process and how
it affects your role as an author, ethical and other issues associated with
writing for publication, and how to write as a faculty group.
