The scholarship is being awarded in honor of Brother Ignatius Perkins who has served the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for many years through his activities for enhancing Nursing education. The Kathryn M. Mershon Nursing Faculty Scholarship is awarded to honor a nurse who has worked tirelessly to improve nursing education and the nursing workforce in Kentucky and throughout the nation. This Award for Excellence in Nursing Education in the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be presented to two outstanding academic nurse educators yearly during the annual business meeting of the Kentucky League for Nursing. The honor will recognize significant contribution to excellence and innovation in nursing education contributing to the preparation of the nursing workforce in the state.
