President’s Report
Winter 2008

As we approach the Holiday Season I hope this finds you all doing well. We held our Annual Meeting on October 31st and we have had a busy year. Our board has been meeting quarterly throughout the 2008 year with our last meeting held in July and a conference call in September. In early spring we made the decision to hold a conference this Fall which we scheduled for October but has since then postponed until the Spring. The Committee decided to inquire about a speaker through the NLN and we have booked Susan Luparell to discuss “Managing Incivility and Other Student Challenges”. Our date of our conference is March 20th, 2009. Please plan on attending.

In May we did award two (2) scholarships of $500 to Theresa Delahoyde and Ellen Piskac. This was through the help of CampusRN, the NLN, and the NeLN scholarship program that we offer each year.

In May, I also held a booth at the Health Educator Conference in Columbus to promote the league.

I was fortunate enough to attend the NLN Summit again this year in September. This year is was in San Antonio and the weather was beautiful. I attended Constituent League meetings two days prior to the Summit to find out about the other leagues within the NLN. It is always good information and wonderful to network with peers. We have received a certificate recognizing the leagues compliance as a constituent league.

At our annual meeting we did elect some new officers.
Please welcome:

  • Secretary: Jody Scebold replacing Sherry Koeningman
  • Treasurer: Julie Skrabel to serve another term
  • Directors: Tasha Pfenning replacing Marla Erbin-Roesemann
  •                  Theresa Delahodye to serve another term
  • Nominations committee: Ellen Piskac, Aubray Orduna, Mary Dishman,
and Nancy Hula to replace Nina Wardell, Joe Councill
                     and Sherri Vrabel
Thank you all for your hard work and leadership within the NeLN.

As a reminder, if you have not paid your dues for membership, please do so. There are many benefits of being a member of the NeLN. We want to hear from you. Become involved in the NeLN.

Respectfully submitted,

Layna Himmelberg, MSN, RN
President
