Welcome to the West Virginia League for Nursing (WVLN) website. The WVLN is a recognized affiliate of the National League for Nursing (NLN). As a constituent league the purpose of WVLN is to support and implement the mission of the NLN to advance quality nursing education to meet the unique needs of diverse populations in an ever changing health care environment. Membership is open to any person interested in fostering the development and improvement of nursing services or nursing education.
Nursing education in West Virginia is supported in several ways. Of the more than 23,000 nurses in the state, approximately 5% hold an MSN. The WVLN provides scholarships to help support graduate education and increase the pool of potential faculty. The Annual Meeting offers an ongoing forum for West Virginia nurses to present research findings. The group sponsors recognized speakers such as Eileen Zungolo and Sister Rosemary Donnelly to provide exposure to contemporary issues. The ability to network with other educators presents valuable opportunities to discuss topics of common concern.
Nursing is the largest group in the healthcare industry and working together we can have a major impact on issues that affect nursing. WVLN joins with other groups in the state to address nursing education policy. There is representation with the Association of Deans and Directors of Nursing Education in West Virginia (ADDNE) and the West Virginia Nurses'Association (WVNA). Together we can make a difference. Please join us in WVLN and help us speak with one voice for the nurses in West Virginia.
