PTSD for Combat Trauma: The Frequent Issues that Emerge in Cognitive Therapy
Combat trauma occurs within the context of military culture and training that may play a role in how people with military trauma respond to and cope with these events. While military personnel and veterans can experience any type of trauma before, during, and after their service, there are specific issues that may arise in therapy that are specific to combat. Some of these issues include: deaths of comrades; graphic imagery; underlying assumptions/expectations about their role in events (e.g., "I am responsible for my men"); kill versus murder; intentionality; the freeze response; and reintegration. This webinar discusses how military trauma issues may play out in the process of conducting a cognitive therapy such as cognitive processing therapy.

Sexual Assault in the Military
The Invisible War is a groundbreaking investigative documentary that presents hard-hitting interviews with high-ranking military officials and members of Congress that reveal the perfect storm conditions that exist for rape in the military and what can be done to bring about much needed change. The film features survivors talking about their experiences and the struggles to rebuild their lives. The film won awards at the Sundance Film Festival and has been screened throughout the country, including for the Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta. The webinar provides an opportunity to hear directly from a survivor of military sexual assault about her experiences and her journey.
