Photos from the Institute

NLN's first Faculty Development Institute, co-sponsored with Villanova University College of Nursing, was an incredible success. Nurse educators and program administrators from across the United States - Hawaii to Maine and Oregon to Florida - gathered to learn and grow. One of the participants stated, "I've never been so challenged to think creatively - and never more supported to develop innovative approaches to teaching." Another said, "The opportunities to explore state of the art nursing education concepts with nationally recognized facilitators are unparalleled." Follow the links for samples of slide presentations and content presented in this year's program.

The two opening addresses set the tone for the week.
   ·
Dr. Georgie Labadie, Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing, presented the "State of the Art in Nursing Education and Nursing Education Research."
   ·
Stephen Merritt, Dean of Enrollment Management at Villanova University opened our eyes to what we can expect of our future students in his presentation "Learners of the Future."

Next, participants moved into the specialized "track" they selected and worked intensively for the remainder of the week, coached by recognized experts in the field.

Some Fun Too!
It was not all work. Institute participants were treated to a reception, a buffet, and a picnic. Some visited Center City Philadelphia, where they enjoyed dining out, the theater, the Hard Rock Café, and a walking tour of the historic area.

In 2002, we will continue our collaboration with Villanova University College of Nursing, and the Institute will be held June 8-13, 2002. Keep your eye on our website for details. Plan to be there!
