Sheila Dinotshe Tlou

As Botswana’s Minister of Health, she led a forward thinking and focused HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support program which is still referred to as a model today. As chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union Ministers of Health, she provided leadership in the adoption of the SADC Malaria Eradication Program, the SADC HIV/AIDS Plan of Action, and the Maputo Plan of Action on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Janice C. Palaganas, PhD, RN

Dr. Palaganas was director of research and development in the Medical Simulation Center at the School of Nursing at Loma Linda University, where in 2012, she earned her PhD. While still a student there, she worked as chief operations officer of the Medical Simulation Center, overseeing its daily functions. She was also on the university’s faculty as assistant professor of nursing; an instructor in the School of Medicine; director of interprofessional education (IPE); and taught in the MBA and physician assistant’s programs. Anne R. Bavier, PhD, RN, FAAN

President of the NLN Anne R. Bavier, a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, is dean of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington. Previously she was dean of the University of Connecticut School of Nursing, and dean of nursing at Saint Xavier University. In addition to her experience in higher education Dr. Bavier has worked as a program director in the National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute, and as deputy director of the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health. Dr. Malone's tenure at the NLN has been marked by a retooling of the League's mission to reflect the core values of caring, diversity, integrity, and excellence and an ongoing focus on advancing the health of the nation and the global community. Significant faculty development and leadership initiatives she championed, from the NLN Academy of Nursing Education to the International Council of Nurses Education Network, highlight her commitment to prepare a diverse nursing workforce, caring for patients to the full extent of their practice, to address the changing dynamics of today's technology-rich health care environment.
