Audio/Web Seminar
January 7, 2010
4:00 - 5:30pm Eastern Time
Marilyn D. Frenn, PhD, RN, CNE & Barbara J. Patterson, PhD,
RN
CONTENT
This webinar will define the characteristics of a successful NLN
research grant proposal. Drawn from the NLN's Nursing Education
Research Advisory Council (NERAC), the presenters will guide you
through the process of addressing significant educational problems
supported by NLN Research Priorities and determine usefulness in
building the science of nursing education. Participants will be
provided tips for developing their good idea, building a well-designed
study, and producing a quality application toward securing one of
the highly competitive NLN Research Grants.
Here are a few steps to success:
Now that you're back home charged up from this year’s NLN
Education Summit, begin working on your application.
By January 2010:
- Complete a review of the materials posted on
the NLN website (www.nln.org)
under Nursing Education Research.
- Think through your research idea.
- Plan your research design.
- Begin writing your application.
FORMAT
To participate in an audio/web conference, you only need a telephone
with a speaker, and a computer connected to the Internet. You will
hear our speaker over the telephone, while you view PowerPoint slides
on our website. Following the presentation, there will be plenty
of time for questions and answers.
REGISTRATION
You may have as many faculty as you wish in a conference room, listening
to the audio and viewing the slides (which can be projected onto
a large screen). During the presentation, pushing a few keys on
the telephone will connect you to the operator, who will tell you
when the line is free to ask the speaker a question.
Your registration entitles you to one connection
only. If your school is logged onto the web server more
than once, your first connection will be terminated.
Registration is limited to 100 connections. Register early! If
we exceed 100 registrations, we will request that the speaker offer
the conference again at a later date.
We heard your budget concerns and know that the
critical shortage of faculty makes it difficult to take the time
to travel to professional development events. To address these needs,
NLN is instituting this new format and will offer several audio/web
conferences on selected topics on a regular basis. Please let me
know which topics are of most interest to you.
This workshop addresses the following Core
Competencies for Nurse Educators©.
