Series D. Putting Leadership Back into Strategy

The primary goal of the NLN’s leadership initiatives for 2011 is to foster the development of leaders in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce. Programs are built solidly on the NLN core values of caring, integrity, diversity and excellence and call for promising and talented leaders to develop strong management skills, to advance innovation in curriculum design and to promote evidence-based nursing education. This series is designed to provide practical ways to enhance leadership and management skills in areas such as decision making, building effective teams, visioning and strategic planning, and organizational systems and leadership processes. The leadership experts who will lead the webinars will focus on the complexity of organizations and engage participants in discovering ways to use organizational management skills to lead nursing program faculty to foster innovative and futuristic curriculum changes.

Objectives: Participants will:

  1. Discuss the dynamics of creating strategic plans that move organizations forward.
  2. Explore practical ways to build high performing teams in the workplace.
  3. Determine the appropriate situations to use negotiation as a strategy

FORMAT
To participate in an audio/web conference, you only need a telephone with a speaker, and a computer connected to the Internet. You will hear our speaker over the telephone, while you view PowerPoint slides on our website. Following the presentation, there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

REGISTRATION
You may have as many faculty as you wish in a conference room, listening to the audio and viewing the slides (which can be projected onto a large screen). During the presentation, pushing a few keys on the telephone will connect you to the operator, who will tell you when the line is free to ask the speaker a question.

Your registration entitles you to one connection only. If your school is logged onto the web server more than once, your first connection will be terminated.

Registration is limited to 100 connections. Register early! If we exceed 100 registrations, we will request that the speaker offer the conference again at a later date.

We heard your budget concerns and know that the critical shortage of faculty makes it difficult to take the time to travel to professional development events. To address these needs, NLN is instituting this new format and will offer several audio/web conferences on selected topics on a regular basis. Please let me know which topics are of most interest to you.

This workshop addresses the following Core Competencies for Nurse Educators©.
