Frances Eason
EdD, RN-BC, CNE, ANEF, is a Professor at the College of Nursing,
East Carolina University. Dr. Eason has taught in the MSN program
since 1981. Her focus has been on evaluating the learning process
and developing strategies to promote nurse educators success at
assisting students to learn. She has also taught faculty development
courses on “test construction” on “teaching and
testing for the NCLEX-RN examination”, and more recently,
the “NLN Preparation course for Certification as a Nurse Educator”.
She is the current director of the NEED project at East Carolina
University, an acronym that stands for “Nursing Education
Educator Development. This is an education program that satisfies
the requirement of the NC Board of Nursing for educators teaching
in programs that lead to licensure. Dr. Eason was fortunate to study
under Dr. Malcolm Knowles, known as the “Father of Adult Education”,
and both her graduate degrees are in education. Dr. Eason has over
fifteen publications in Peer review journals, and has written several
textbook chapters. She is also a consulting editor at “Advance
for Nurses”. During her career, Dr. Eason has received eight
“outstanding teacher awards” from students and also
from the Beta Nu chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. Dr. Eason is also an
NLNAC Program Evaluator.
