Advanced Tools for Web Course Design
Description
After having mastered the basics in Web course design, are you
ready to take the next step and make your content media-rich, interesting, and
more engaging for your students? This workshop will familiarize you with advanced
tools in Web design to create custom course page templates, detailed illustrations,
engaging activities using JavaScript, slide shows in Flash format, and narrated
PowerPoint presentations.
Learner Level: Intermediate to Advanced Web Course Developers. Must have working
knowledge of Web design with graphic editors such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver
or Composer (HTML skills not required).
Objectives:
- Outline general guidelines for the production of visually
pleasing web course pages
- Create custom course page templates for web delivery
- Define (pre-coded) JavaScript.
- Insert JavaScript into HTML pages
- Incorporate basic principles of good graphic design into course web pages
- Create detailed illustrations using image editing software
- Create detailed illustrations using screen capture software
- Create a fully narrated PowerPoint presentation for the web
- Create Flash animations for instructional purposes
- Discuss the challenges, rewards of introducing advanced features into web
courses
