Series B: Leadership Development Series: The Challenge of
Leadership
This leadership development webinar series, the third in the NLN’s
continuing series, will provide emerging faculty leaders and nursing
education administrators with opportunities to enhance their knowledge
and competencies as managers in organizational systems. New ways
of thinking and framing how a manager conducts performance evaluations
and how effective coaching can lead to faculty growth and group
cohesion will be explored. Additionally, concepts about servant-leadership
will be discussed, including how the emerging faculty leader can
utilize principles of servant-leadership to grow as teacher and
administrator.
UK and in Australia.

Performance Review: Moving from task to opportunity
Presented by: Linda Christensen JD, MSN, RN
Performance reviews are part of every employee’s and supervisor’s
routine. Far too often the review can be based solely upon performance
during recent events, or one sided expectations. By reframing the
activity of performance reviews, both supervisor and employee can
have an opportunity for identification for shared expectations,
clarified job requirements, and transparent feedback. Since performance
reviews become the basis for salary adjustments, future promotions,
and even maintaining one’s position, they must be conducted
within legal and ethical standards to protect all parties involved.

Servant Leadership: Implications for Nursing Educators
Presented by: Lea Williams EdD
Does servant-leadership offer a leadership and an instructional
paradigm for nursing educators? Join the Webinar to explore the
principles of servant-leadership, drawing on The Servant as Leader
essay written by Robert K. Greenleaf, who defined the concept, and
the servant leadership literature in nursing. Participants will
delve into how nursing educators might apply the concepts of servant
leadership to professional development, as well as in the classroom
and in clinical settings.
FORMAT
To participate in an audio/web conference, you only need a telephone
with a speaker, and a computer connected to the Internet. You will
hear our speaker over the telephone, while you view PowerPoint slides
on our website. Following the presentation, there will be plenty
of time for questions and answers.
REGISTRATION
You may have as many faculty as you wish in a conference room, listening
to the audio and viewing the slides (which can be projected onto
a large screen). During the presentation, pushing a few keys on
the telephone will connect you to the operator, who will tell you
when the line is free to ask the speaker a question.
Your registration entitles you to one connection
only. If your school is logged onto the web server more
than once, your first connection will be terminated.
Registration is limited to 100 connections. Register early! If
we exceed 100 registrations, we will request that the speaker offer
the conference again at a later date.
We heard your budget concerns and know that the
critical shortage of faculty makes it difficult to take the time
to travel to professional development events. To address these needs,
NLN is instituting this new format and will offer several audio/web
conferences on selected topics on a regular basis. Please let me
know which topics are of most interest to you.
