Bassell, Kellie
Kellie Bassell is the Nursing Program Director at Palm Beach State College. She graduated from Boston College with a BSN in 1983 and received an MSN in 2004 from Florida Atlantic University and an Educational Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on educational technology in 2009 from the University of Florida. She is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of Florida in educational technology. Kellie is the president of the Florida League for Nursing. She was the recipient of the Palm Beach Post/Palm Healthcare Nurse Educator of the Year for 2008.

Boese, Teri
Teri Boese, MSN, RN is the Director of the Simulation Center and Assistant Professor of nursing at the International University of Nursing and University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts, West Indies. She is the co founding president of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. Teri was formally an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa where she taught for 27 years and was co director of the Nursing Clinical Education Center.

Cato, Mary
Mary L. Cato, MSN, RN is an Assistant Professor and Simulation Specialist in the Oregon Health & Science University Simulation and Clinical Learning Center. She has been using simulation to teach nursing for more than six years, and has been involved with integrating simulation into multiple courses and curricula.

Cleary, Jeanne
Jeanne Cleary, MAN, RN is the Director of Simulation at Ridgewater College in Willmar and Hutchinson, MN. She began teaching and using simulation at Ridgewater in 2003 and became the Director in 2006. She has 25 years of critical care nursing experience. Jeanne has been using simulation and unfolding cases in the classroom and simulation labs. She has been involved with several NLN initiatives and pilot studies. She was selected to be a HITS Scholar and was involved in the ACES project as a simulation expert.

Curry, Tamika
Tamika Curry received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University, and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University. Ms. Curry’s nursing experience involves adult medical/surgical care, acute stroke care, hospice care, and care of the older adult. Currently, Ms. Curry is an assistant professor in the Department of Nursing at the Community College of Philadelphia.

Gelbach , Mary
Mary Gelbach received her BSN degree from Bloomsburg University of PA and her MSN degree from Villanova University. She has twenty years of experience in the area of nursing education. She is an Associate Professor at Delaware County Community College (Media PA) where she shares her expertise in Gerontology and Psychiatry with second level students in both the classroom and clinical setting. She has presented at numerous ACES workshops and published Teaching Strategies for Geriatric Syndromes.

Jeffries, Pamela
Dr. Pamela Jefferies is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor in the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. A sought after consultant, she is widely published and is nationally and internationally known for her research and work in developing simulations and for her expertise in experiential learning, innovative teaching strategies, and new pedagogies. Dr. Jeffries served as the Project Director for a national simulation study funded by the National League for Nursing and Laerdal Medical. She was named to the same role for a second NLN and Laerdal grant to facilitate the development of web-based courses for faculty development in simulation and a national simulation innovation resource center. Dr. Jeffries has received numerous university, national, and international teaching awards, including the NLN's Lucile Petry Leone Award for her endeavors.

McLaughlin, Barbara
Barbara McLaughlin is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Nursing at the Community College of Philadelphia. Barbara has been an associate degree nurse educator for over 25 years. She received her diploma in nursing from Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Holy Family University, a Masters Degree in Education from Arcadia University, a Masters Degree in Nursing with a concentration in nursing education from Villanova University, and a Doctorate in Nursing Science, concentrating in nursing education, from Widener University. Barbara is a Certified Nurse Educator and a Fellow in the Academy of Nurse Educators. Since joining the full time faculty at Community College of Philadelphia, Barbara has participated in several grants including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation funded Community College-Nursing Home Partnership to integrate gerontology into curricula and a Helene Fuld Health Trust grant related to refocusing associate degree nursing education into community based settings.

Mengel, Andrea
Dr. Mengel, Independence Foundation Chair in Nursing at Community College of Philadelphia, graduated from Penn State with a degree in nursing and earned a masters degree in psychiatric nursing and a doctorate in health professions education from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mengel was awarded the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her interests include community based care, geriatrics and mental health nursing. She is a member of the National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau and is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.

O'Hara, Tricia
Tricia O’Hara, RN, MSN, PhD (candidate) is currently employed full-time as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Gwynedd-Mercy College, Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania. She has over 30 years experience in nursing with 18 years in Home Care, 20 years in Gerontology (Nursing Administrator in Long-term care and In-Patient rehabilitation) and 8 years in Nursing Education.

Reese, Cynthia (Cindy)
Cynthia Reese, PhD, RN, CNE is the Associate Dean of Nursing at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois. She has 15 years of teaching experience in associate and baccalaureate degree nursing programs, including 5 years of experience with clinical simulation and research in clinical simulation environments. Specifically, she has developed the Student Perception of Effective Teaching in Simulation, an instrument measuring teaching behaviors in simulation. Most recently, Dr. Reese has served as a simulation expert with the NLN ACES project. Cindy developed the “Millie” unfolding case study that is available on the NLN website.

Rizzolo, Mary Anne
Recently retired from the NLN, but continues to manage several simulation projects funded by Laerdal Medical, and the Health Information Technology Scholars grant from the Division of Nursing (DHHS, HRSA). Dr. Rizzolo's interest has always focused on exploring new technologies, determining how they can serve to educate and inform nurses, then operationalizing the delivery of those products in a cost effective manner. She developed award winning multimedia programs and AJN Online, one of the first websites in the world to offer continuing education, journal articles, forum discussions, and other educational and networking opportunities. She has delivered over 150 national and international presentations on technology related topics and nursing education.

Rowe, Sheron
Sheron Rowe obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from the University of Central Florida and us currently working on her EdD in higher education. After working for many years in Medical-Surgical nursing, she is now in nursing education, teaching previously at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences and currently at Seminole State College of Florida. Sheron received her Simulation Specialist Level 1 Certification in 2008 and has developed simulations for use across the curriculum. She has also presented on simulation at national and local conferences as well as within the Nursing Department at Seminole State College of Florida.

Sammarco, Leslie
Leslie Sammarco is a member of the PEGNE team working on the ACES project. She has 31 years of nursing experience and has taught in academia since 1990. Leslie is a master prepared nurse who has been with Seminole State College in Central Florida for five years. She is the program coordinator for the RN Transition Program and teaches in the second year Medical Surgical courses. She is the program coordinator for the Transition program and teaches Career Transition, upper level medical surgical nursing courses and Practicum.

Tagliareni, Elaine
M. Elaine Tagliareni is currently the Chief Program Officer at the National League for Nursing, New York. For over 20 years Elaine was a Professor of Nursing and the Independence Foundation Chair in Community Health Nursing Education at Community College of Philadelphia. Elaine also served as President of the NLN from 2007-2009. In her role as Independence Foundation Chair, she has served as president of the National Nursing Centers Consortium (NNCC) to advance state and federal health policy to include nurse managed health centers as essential safety net providers for vulnerable populations. She has a long history of organizational leadership and grant funded initiatives, funded through the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, National Institutes of Health and The John A. Hartford Foundation to advance nursing practice and education, increase diversity of the nursing workforce and promote educational mobility for all nurses through the creation, implementation, and dissemination of new educational models.

Tavolaro-Ryley, Laureen
Laureen Tavolaro-Ryley RN, BSN, MSN is a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from York College of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently an associate professor of nursing at Community College of Philadelphia, where she currently is the curriculum coordinator. Her clinical work with students has been focused on the community experience, supervising a service learning collaboration between the nursing students and the local community. She has been involved with grants fostering geriatrics in nursing curriculums as well as bridging opportunities for minority nursing students to pursue graduate education. She was recently featured on the American Journal of Nursing’s “How to Try This” Series, video on the Geriatric Depression Scale.
