Evaluation and Learning Advisory Council (ELAC)
Purpose
The purpose of the Evaluation of Learning Advisory Council is to to provide leadership regarding assessment and evaluation of student learning (a) in classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings, and (b) in all domains of learning (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective).
Goals
- Achieve consensus in the nursing education community regarding the meaning and nature of “excellence in assessment and evaluation of student learning” in all types of programs (i.e., practical nurse, associate degree, diploma, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral)
- Promote evidence-based practices regarding how student learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings is assessed and evaluated
- Promote evidence-based practices regarding how student learning in all domains of learning (i.e., cognitive, psychomotor, affective) is assessed and evaluated
- Advance the concept that the assessment and evaluation of student learning in all settings (classroom, laboratory, and clinical) and all domains of learning (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) is an integral part of the scholarship of teaching
