National League for Nursing - Get Invovled Advisory Councils

Purpose

The purpose of the Educational Technology and Information Management Advisory Council (ETIMAC) is to promote the effective use of technology in nursing education, both as a teaching tool and an outcome for student and faculty learning, and to advance the integration of information management into educational practices and program outcomes.

Goals

  1. Promote the effective use of educational/instructional technology as a teaching tool, particularly in light of the complex demands of online learning environments.
  2. Promote the development of information management processes that assist with data-driven decisions for the improvement of nursing education.
  3. Champion the effective use of technology and information management as they relate to nursing education
  4. Provide input to professional organizations and other relevant groups regarding the continued refinement of informatics competencies for nurses.
  5. Evaluate the extent to which and the ways in which current curricula prepare students to achieve the informatics competencies (i.e., computer literacy, information literacy, and overall informatics competencies) for the nurse as outlined in the American Nurses Association’s Scope of Practice for Nursing Informatics.
  6. Collaborate with NEAC (Nurse Education Advisory Council) to address how goals related to preparing graduates for the effective use of technology and information management can be achieved through our educational programs.
  7. Collaborate with NERAC (Nursing Education Research Advisory Council) to (a) identify gaps in nursing knowledge related to the infusion of technology and information management concepts in nursing education and (b) address those gaps.
  8. Collaborate with NEWDAC (Nurse Educator Workforce Development Advisory Council) to design and implement innovative approaches to increasing faculty pedagogical literacy in the areas of technology and information management in the context of nursing education.
