Advisory Councils
Purpose
The purpose of the Nurse Educator Workforce Development Advisory Council (NEWDAC) is to provide the leadership that advances the lifelong learning goals of nurses whose primary role is education in academic, practice, or other service settings.
Goals
- Support public policy efforts related to the nurse educator workforce.
- Develop action plans to recruit and retain individuals in the nurse educator role.
- Promote the value of educational practice.
- Formulate and disseminate competencies for nurse educators.
- Promote the development of the nurse educator workforce.
- Promote collaboration between nursing education and nursing practice on issues related to the education and lifelong learning of the nursing workforce.
- Recommend products and services that enable nurse educators to improve the quality of their teaching, practice, and research.
- Develop mechanisms to identify the learning needs of educators in academic, practice, or other service settings as they progress through their careers.
