Accrediting Commission Relocating to Atlanta

NLNAC Move to Lower Overhead and Increase Benefits for
Schools of Nursing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY — January 28, 2009 — The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the National League for Nursing announced today the July 2009 move of NLNAC to Atlanta, Georgia. After extensive investigation into various locations across the country, it was determined that the best combination of affordability, cost-of-living, personnel pool, ease of travel, and livability factors could be found in this vibrant southern city.

Speaking on behalf of the NLNAC board, chair Dr. Elizabeth Mahaffey enthused, “The new offices, in the Atlanta Financial Center in Buckhead on world-renowned Peachtree Road, are spacious, attractive, and convenient, located just steps from a public transportation hub and with parking in the building.” Added Dr. Sharon Tanner, executive director of NLNAC, “We don’t expect to miss a step. Office operations will smoothly transition — we’ll be open for business in Atlanta on July 1, 2009. And I’m thrilled to report that a great majority of NLNAC staff will move with us.”

“Though we will sorely miss our colleagues in terms of their physical proximity, our working relationship will remain as close as ever,” said NLN CEO Dr. Beverly Malone. “We understand that in some respects, NLNAC is in the travel business. This relocation will allow staff to more easily visit far-flung schools of nursing and in return, nurse faculty can more easily visit them.” Echoed NLN president Dr. Elaine Tagliareni, “We will all, of course, work together to ensure that the communication and collaboration between our two organizations continues.”

Located in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, the new address for NLNAC as of July 1, 2009 is 3343 Peachtree Road, NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, Georgia, 30326. For more information, please contact Dr. Sharon Tanner at 212-812-0364.
