Tailored Course Remediation Developed by Nursing Faculty
for Nursing Students

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY — April 22, 2013 — Proven strategies to accelerate mastery of content and expand critical thinking skills are among the advances in testing services from the National League for Nursing, with the league's new NLN Prep, Practice & Remediation (PPR) module. This online review module, containing practice questions with comprehensive rationales, reflects a cutting-edge approach to NCLEX® success: exam preparation developed by nursing faculty that is tailored to the strengths, weaknesses, and other testing needs of individual nursing students.

"With this sophisticated testing services product, available exclusively through the NLN, students have the option to create a personalized test prep experience by choosing settings that respond to their individual needs, by answering questions in their own time in an informal context, or through the practice exam mode, which recreates the exam experience for additional preparation," noted NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN.

Added NLN president Judith A. Halstead, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF: "This new PPR module demonstrates the NLN commitment to creating test preparation products and services of the highest caliber, responsive to varied educational backgrounds and learning styles. It is yet another example of how the NLN works to fulfill its mission to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the nation's health."

PPR customization choices include:

  • Immediate feedback
  • Question/Answer Summary
  • Hide/Show Answers
  • Countdown Timer and Pace Timer
  • Item Difficulty Level
  • Test Topic/Subject
  • Print performance report immediately
  • Choice of one, two, three, or more subject areas
  • Student and group reporting
  • 25, 50, and 75-question practice formats

The PPR also features:

  1. More than 5,000 newly-written questions, with additional questions to be added annually
  2. All types of alternative item questions
  3. A proprietary test algorithm that minimizes question repetition

With the PPR, students can truly focus on identified areas of weakness through self-selected customization of practice exams arranged by topic or subject, with an option for immediate feedback. In addition, reports are generated for every practice exam taken through the NLN's "true testing" application through which students track their progress and eliminate guesswork for NCLEX® exam readiness.
