The Co-creation of Transformational Leadership and Curriculum Innovation in Nursing Programs New Orleans, Sunday, June 3-Thursday, June 7

New York, NY — March 14, 2012 — The National League for Nursing is proud to offer, for the sixth consecutive year, an in-depth opportunity for nurse faculty to develop and refine skills and insights that will propel their evolution as educators and leaders. The NLN Immersion Experience is an intensive five-day program exploring ways to lead transformation in nursing education. Nurse educators should come prepared with personal growth objectives and/or those of their schools and commit to making significant progress toward achieving these goals. The conference will be held Sunday-Thursday, June 3 -7 at this years NLN partnership site, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Nursing, in New Orleans.
League CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, will launch the conference with her keynote address at the opening dinner on Sunday evening. Said NLN president Dr. Judith Halstead, "Dr. Malone's presentation will be the perfect introduction to an intensive, productive week of investigating curricular innovations and creative leadership development.
Participants will choose to follow one of three specialty tracks designed to meet emergent needs of nurse educators. Addressing all of nursing educations core competencies, the tracks have been developed to facilitate implementation of creative strategies to transform nursing education.
Track I: Revise Your Curriculum: Innovative Teaching Strategies for the Classroom and Clinical
Track II: Building a Foundation: Facilitating Rapid Transition into Leadership Roles
Track III: Rethinking Nursing Education: Integrating Simulation to Teach for a Changing Health Care Environment
The Immersion Experience includes active engagement with teaching/learning strategies in the integration of innovative curricula in both classroom and clinical settings; discussion of how curricula reflect a schools mission/philosophy and current trends in nursing and health care; exploration of research topics related to the science of nursing education; time for networking with colleagues; and consultation with experts in the implementation of organizational change and leadership development. Participants will also work on individual and group (small and large) projects during the course of the week.
