NEP Special Summit 2020 Issue: Call for Manuscripts

Submission Deadline: January 1, 2020 

Nursing Education Perspectives is planning a special issue recognizing the 10-year anniversary of the Future of Nursing report for the September/October 2020 issue. The guest editor is Susan Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation senior advisor for nursing and director, Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action.

We are seeking nursing education research studies focused on achieving success and meeting challenges to realize the Future of Nursing recommendations. 

Suggestions include research on:

  • Preparing and enabling nursing students and graduates to lead change in health care
  • Design of educational systems that implement efficient and cost-effective programs of learning
  • Residency programs that facilitate transition into new clinical areas
  • Nurse educator preparation to build cutting-edge competence in practice, teaching, and research
  • Building learning environments that foster interprofessional collaboration and practice
  • Partnerships to recruit and advance diverse nursing students
  • Academic pathways, beyond articulation agreements, that promote seamless

    access for nurses to higher levels of education

  • Educating for community-focused health care delivery

We are also seeking pilot studies for the journal’s Research Briefs section, and innovative pedagogical strategies in the Innovation Center that fit this call.
