MATERNITY AND CHILD HEALTH NURSING

Purpose: Assesses students' understanding of nursing care measures, with an emphasis on normal and abnormal physiological and psychosocial changes occurring during pregnancy and in childhood. Topics addressed include normal growth and development, deviations from expected developmental norms, and implications for nursing assessment, intervention, and teaching during the childbearing and child-rearing years. Incorporates relevant items on communication, nutrition, and pharmacology.
Format: 125 multiple-choice, four-option items. Twenty-five of these items are for experimental purposes and not included in the scoring.
Administration: Schedule after completion of course work in maternity and child health nursing. This test may be administered as a computer-based test (CBT) or paper-based test (PBT). All achievement CBT and PBTs must be administered in a secure, proctored environment unless otherwise directed.
Scoring: A total score and two subscores are provided. Normative data are based on the performance of students in RN programs.
