NURSING CARE OF CHILDREN

Purpose: Assesses students' understanding of concepts related to the delivery of culturally competent nursing care for children and their families in a variety of health care settings. Includes relevant items on nutrition, pharmacology, and interpersonal relationships during growth and development.
Format: 125 multiple-choice, four-option items. Twenty-five of these items are for experimental purposes and not included in the scoring.
Administration: Schedule after completion of course work in child health nursing. This test may be administered as a computer-based test (CBT) or paper-based test (PBT). All achievement CBT and PBTs must be administered in a secure, proctored environment unless otherwise directed.
Scoring: A total score and three subscores are provided. Growth and Development/ Health Promotion, Acute Health Deviations, Chronic and Disabling Health Deviations. Separate normative data are provided and based on the performance of students in associate and baccalaureate degree nursing programs. Data are also provided for combined RN programs. Normative data are based on the performance of students in RN programs.
