PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSING

Purpose: Assesses students' understanding of concepts related to mental health nursing. Principles of therapeutic communication and psychopharmacology are included. All questions are framed in the nursing process.

Format: 125 multiple-choice, four-option items. Twenty-five items are for experimental purposes and not included in the scoring.

Administration: Schedule after completion of course work in a basic psychiatric course. This test may be administered as a computer-based test (CBT) or paper-based test (PBT). All achievement CBT and PBTs must be administered in a secure, proctored environment unless otherwise directed.

Scoring: A total score and two subscores are provided. Normative data are based on the performance of students in RN programs.
