National League for Nursing - Test Products

NLN Test Products*

*Administered by the NLN’s test delivery system

For more than 60 years, the NLN has developed valid and reliable standardized norm-reference tests for use as admissions testing for schools of nursing. All NLN tests are developed by seeking direction from nurse educators and being responsive to their needs.  These precepts form the basis of the philosophy of the NLN’s Assessment and Evaluation (A&E) division and its testing products.

Construct validity and reliability are criteria that define high-quality information. At the NLN, the meaning of the measure, its construct validity, must always be pursued, not only to support test interpretation but also to justify test use.  The NLN has conducted validation and reliability studies to determine the usefulness of our tests as predictors of performance in schools of nursing.

Test development staff consists of nurse educators, psychometricians, software engineers, editors, customer service representatives, and sales managers, and extensive support staff. In-house experts appreciate the broad aspects of psychometrics and the problems of measurement for the nursing profession –  practitioners and students, standards, educational programs, and consumers.

To become involved in the test development process and contribute to the quality and content of NLN tests, apply to become an NLN test development consultant, item writer, test reviewer, or field site supervisor.
