Purpose: Measures students’ competencies in various aspects of nursing practice. The 125-individual items are designed to measure students' ability to utilize critical thinking skills and the nursing process in addressing health care needs of clients, families, communities, and aggregates. Includes questions on community focus skills, health promotion and care strategies, resource management, leadership skills, research application, educational approaches, outcome evaluation, and collaborative strategies in a variety of community settings. This test is comprehensive in scope, incorporating questions on adult, children’s, women’s, and mental health topics, and community health practice areas.
Format: 125-item, four-option, multiple-choice. Twenty-five of these items are for experimental purposes and are not included in the scoring. Available in online and paper formats.
Administration: Schedule at the completion of the nursing program.
Scoring: A total score and three subscores are provided.

Test Specifications (PDF)
Purpose: This test assesses students' understanding of general health assessment and physical examination techniques used to evaluate the health status of adults and children. Addresses general health assessment in the areas of interviewing, health-history taking, general surveying, and documentation. Health status and developmental stage of clients are also considered. The test reflects nurse-client encounters in a variety of primary, secondary, and teriary health care settings and requires students to use their knowledge of the nursing process.
