Janice Gilyard Brewington has distinguished herself as a leader and a scholar. She is currently NLN chief program officer and director of the League’s Center for Transformational Leadership. She previously served as senior director and as a consultant for the NLN.

Dr. Brewington was provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. While there, she had a unique opportunity to be an “executive on loan” for a year with the Gillette Company in Boston as the manager for university relations in talent acquisition, human resources, global shared services, North America.

Her educational background includes a BSN from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, an MSN from Emory University, a PhD in health policy and administration from the School of Public Health, and a minor in organizational behavior from the School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also received a certificate from the Management and Leadership Program at Harvard University. Dr. Brewington is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
