Integrating a Framework into Curricula to Foster Clinical Judgment Development
With the introduction of the Next Gen NCLEX (NGN) in 2023, many nurse educators are seeking innovative ways to foster clinical judgment development in prelicensure programs. It is not enough, however, to use teaching strategies randomly but with intention considering the entire curriculum. The Tanner Model of Clinical Judgment and Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric, both evidence-based, together form a cohesive framework to support development of students’ clinical judgment. In addition, the framework aligns with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model. This webinar will share recent national research findings about effective clinical judgment teaching strategies as well as consider how best to integrate them into curricula.
