Beyond the Storm: Reshaping Resilience & Recovery
The world is becoming increasingly impacted by natural and human-made emergencies and disasters. Public health emergencies span a variety of factors including the opioid crisis, infectious disease outbreaks, and workplace violence. Human-made disasters stem from a variety of factors including transportation and industrial incidents as well as international conflicts. In addition, the average number of natural disasters related to weather and climate has increased from nine to 23 incidents per year. Summit 2026 will bring together thought leaders, educators, and public policy and disaster experts to address the growing challenges posed by these crises and catastrophes.
Presentations will focus on research, simulations, and evidence-based teaching strategies to prepare students and faculty for the emergencies and disasters to come. Topics can include prevention and preparedness, infrastructure and community resilience, and recovery. Attendees will gain valuable insights into integrating natural and human-made emergency and disaster constructs into curricula from the licensed/vocational nurse to doctoral levels of education, research, and clinical practice. Join us to explore how Summit 2026 can empower educators, inspire students, and ultimately improve patient outcomes through innovative, efficient, and effective education strategies.
