Practical Nursing Program Outcomes
To assist PN educators to prepare the LPN/LVN workforce for current practice and to promote academic progression, the NLN released a vision statement to recognize the role of LPN/LVN graduates to advance the nation's health and developed guidelines for practical nursing national faculty to support learning in new clinical settings that align with workforce practice. The intent of the guidelines is not to add to the PN curricula or to increase educational requirements for LPN/LVN practice. Based on the NLN Education Competencies Model (2010), the guidelines describe the four program outcomes of human flourishing, nursing judgment, spirit of inquiry, and professional identity as a foundation for curriculum redesign.
