Brookdale Community College
The Brookdale Community College nursing faculty’s interest in pedagogical excellence was conceived within the larger college community where a high value is placed on academic excellence. The members of the nursing faculty are dedicated to sustaining high quality innovative teaching. Examples of the nursing faculty accomplishments include the sustenance of a faculty online learning community, assimilation of faculty members as expert learners, integration of Narrative Pedagogy in all classes including online experiences and simulation, and creation of an affordable, seamless progression into a local BSN program.

Christ Hospital School of Nursing
Awarded in the category of student learning and professional development, the Christ Hospital school of nursing provides an overwhelming number of resources to support minority students to be successful by providing individualized counseling, mentoring and tutoring. This opportunity creates a learning environment which fosters a sense of family support and encouragement which is the embodiment of their philosophy. Using a variety of evidenced­ based teaching strategies and creating a nurturing learning environment, the school prepares nurse graduates who are caring, compassionate and technologically savvy.

Indiana University
The first school to earn designation as a center of excellence in both pedagogical expertise and the science of nursing education is Indiana University-- including the IUPUI, Bloomington, and Columbus campuses. IU faculty, administration, and students are leaders in pedagogical innovation and research nationally and internationally, creating and studying new learning models, and infusing excellence in all of their programs. Their commitment to both innovation and research continually improves their programs and encourages students at all levels to become leaders in the field.


New York University
The school’s evidence based practice initiative emanates from its vision and strategic plan and generates innovative programs that have flexible and dynamic curricula. Awarded designation in the category for student learning and professional development, the school fosters recognized EBP collaborative partnerships which engage and positively impact the community and supports faculty to use pioneering teaching strategies in creating a student-centered learning environment. Together these have brought about optimal learning and professional development of its outstanding highly diverse BS, MS, DNP, and PhD graduates.


North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System
North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System has a firm commitment to the academic progression of its 11,000 nurses believing that excellent levels of patient care require a highly educated nursing workforce. The NSLIJ Institute for Nursing positions us them a leading force in education, practice and research. Innovations in academic service partnerships have resulted in numerous initiatives spanning pre-licensure support through fully-funded doctoral education. Rich resources are available such as: robust tuition assistance programs, on-site coursework, education fairs, streamlined student orientation and clinical agreement processes, state of the art simulation centers, and centers for the support of nursing research and statistical analysis.

Trinitas Regional Medical Center
Strategic goals and strong nursing leadership has assisted Trinitas Regional Medical Center to create and sustain initiatives that enhance the learning environment of their nurses, promote professional growth and improve the quality of care. On-site BSN and MSN programs with enrollments of more than 140 nurses over eight years result in graduates leading patient care improvements and teaching in educational settings. More than 60% represent minority populations. The financial investment of $1million dollars coupled with the energy and excitement created from their accomplishments serves as a catalyst for excellence in academic progression and educational enrichment.


The University of Kansas Hospital

A Magnet® designated organization, The University of Kansas Hospital, is a 751 licensed bed tertiary and quaternary care hospital located in Kansas City and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Kansas Medical Center. The hospital’s vision is to lead the nation in caring, healing, teaching and learning. Awarded designation in the category of academic progression of nurses, the hospital’s foundation for transformation is evident in their formula of exceptional service and world class outcomes delivered by competent, caring staff who embody their culture, leading to growth and financial stability.


UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing

The UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing has experienced national recognition as a result of various initiatives, including academic partnerships in both the Transitioning Care at the Bedside (TCAB) and QSEN projects. At the time of the initial COE application in 2009, the school was beginning a quest to understand quality and safety as it related to pre-licensure nursing education. Currently, a solid grounding in operational principles of quality improvement methodology demonstrates faculty commitment to education and professional development of their students. The result is a dynamic environment that’s dedicated to student success and satisfaction.

Wagner College
Awarded designation in the category of student learning and professional development, the Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing at Wagner College focuses on the importance of individual student advising and planning of clinical experiences at all levels in the curriculum. The College is fully engaged in civic learning and considers nursing to have been a model from early on in community-based experiential and service learning. Nursing is fully integrated into all of the College's initiatives and is part of the Civic Engagement Grant which partners students and faculty with health related organizations in a formal partnership within a need based area on Staten Island.
