COMMUNITY-BASED HOME HEALTH NURSING CORE RN ASSESSMENT TEST

Purpose: Measures a generalist staff nurse’s knowledge of community-based home health, with specific emphasis on the care requirements of adult clients.

Format: Two-part exam: Part I, Client Management (50 multiple choice, four-option items); Part II, Critical Thinking (20 multiple choice, four case studies, five test items for each).

Scoring: A total score and subscores are provided.

Part I: Client Management: 50 items

A. Assessment

Cognitive/Mental Assessment: 6 items
Social/Economical Assessment: 6 items
Risk Management Assessment: 8 items
Physical Assessment: 10 items
B. Clinical Management
Clinical Management of Disease: 10 items
Technical Skill: 5 items
Documentation/Administration: 5 items


Part II: Critical Thinking: 20 items

Purpose: Measures a generalist staff nurse’s knowledge of community-based home health, with specific emphasis on the care requirements of geriatric clients.

Format: Two-part exam: Part I, Client Management (40- multiple choice, four-option items); Part II, Critical Thinking (20 multiple choice, four case studies, five test items for each).

Administration: Can be administered in approximately 60 minutes.

Scoring: A total score and subscores are provided.

Part I: Client Management: 40 items

A. Assessment

Normal Parameters in Aging: 7 items
Protective Issues: 13 items
Physical Assessment: 11 items
B. Clinical Management
Clinical Management of Disease: 9 items
Part II: Critical Thinking: 20 items

Purpose: Measures a generalist staff nurse’s knowledge of community-based home health, with specific emphasis on the care requirements of pediatric clients.

Format: Two-part exam: Part I, Client Management (40- multiple choice, four-option items); Part II, Critical Thinking (20 multiple choice, four case studies, five test items for each).

Administration: Can be administered in one hour.

Scoring: A total score and four subscores are provided.

HOME HEALTH AIDE SKILLS ASSESSMENT TEST

Purpose: Measures the home health aide's knowledge and ability to apply basic principles necessary for providing safe patient care in the home environment.

Format: 60 multiple choice, four-option items

Administration: Can be administered in approximately 60 minutes

Scoring: A total score and three subscores are provided.

Communication Skills and Risk Management: 18 items
Clinical and Technical Management of the Client: 20 items
Personal Care: 22 items
