Frances E. Ashe-Goins RN, MPH, FAAN, PhD (Honorary) public health expert, health administrator, policy analyst, health educator, and registered nurse. Currently she is an Affiliate Professor at the University of SC College of Nursing and Arnold School of Public Health. Formerly she was the Deputy Director and Acting Director for the U.S. DHHS-Office on Women’s Health (OWH), where she was responsible for the development, and implementation of OWH programs and policies. She spearheaded the creation of many innovative initiatives including the Minority Women’s Health Summits, National and State Summits on Young Women’s Health, the National Capitol Hill Town Hall Meeting on Lupus, the first National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day event, Health and Violence Against Women initiative, Human Trafficking and Health Initiative and award-winning National Lupus Awareness Campaign.
She continues her work public health issues with The National Kidney Fund Board of Commissioners, PAVE, Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network, Delta Eta Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Midlands National Black Nurses Association, SCPHA, SCNA, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, SCHIV AIDS Council, SC AARP, and Richland Memorial Hospital Board of Governors.
She has appeared in numerous media outlets and conferences throughout the nation. She has received many national awards including the AETNA Outstanding Nurses Calendar, NBNA-DC Outstanding, USC Outstanding Nurse Alumnus Award, ONI Award from The International Black Women’s Congress, Lupus Foundation of America Award, US-DHHS Secretaries’ Awards for Distinguished Service and recently was awarded the DAISY Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
