Director of Healthcare Leadership and Nursing Informatics, Professor

Dr. Carolyn S. Harmon is a nationally recognized leader in nursing informatics and digital health. She is Professor and Director of Healthcare Leadership and Nursing Informatics at the University of South Carolina, where she also serves as a Nurse Scientist with the ACORN Center, a Propel AI Scholar, and a Provost’s AI Teaching Fellow. A Past President of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), she currently leads the Artificial Intelligence Subgroup of the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science Initiative. Board certified in nursing informatics and trained as a Six Sigma Green Belt. Dr. Harmon blends academic expertise with practical innovation to advance nursing, leadership, and technology. In October 2025, she will be inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in recognition of her contributions to the profession and her vision for AI-enabled, person-centered healthcare.
