Director of Educational Innovation and Assistant Professor

Dr. Cori Heier is an Assistant Professor and Director of Educational Innovation and the Faculty Academy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Her work focuses on academic nursing leadership, faculty development, competency-based education, and the use of technology and simulation to enhance teaching and learning. Dr. Heier’s scholarship on nurse faculty job satisfaction, leadership behaviors, and faculty transition to academia has been published in nationally recognized nursing education and leadership journals. She has led the development and evaluation of a comprehensive Faculty Academy and has received funding for innovative faculty development and AI-enabled workforce communication initiatives. Dr. Heier is an experienced national and international presenter and currently serves in elected leadership roles with the Association of Leadership Science in Nursing.
