Frances E. Ashe-Goins is a public health expert, health administrator, policy analyst, health educator, and registered nurse. She currently serves as an Affiliate Professor at the University of South Carolina College of Nursing and the Arnold School of Public Health. Previously, she was Deputy Director and Acting Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health, where she led national programs and policies. She developed major initiatives such as the Minority Women’s Health Summits, National and State Summits on Young Women’s Health, the National Capitol Hill Town Hall on Lupus, the first National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and campaigns addressing violence against women, human trafficking, and lupus awareness.
Her public health leadership continues through service on boards including the National Kidney Foundation, PAVE, WREN, Delta Eta, Midlands NBNA, SCPHA, SCNA, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, SCHIV AIDS Council, SC AARP, and the Richland Memorial Hospital Board. She has been widely recognized with numerous national awards, including the DAISY Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
