National League for Nursing CEO Honored at Nursing Leadership Conference

Adelphi University College of Nursing and Alpha Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Tap Dr. Beverly Malone for Lifetime Achievement Award
Washington, DC, May 2, 2019 — The College of Nursing at Adelphi University and the Alpha Omega Chapter of the international honor society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, have named Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, CEO of the National League for Nursing, the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award this year. The honor was presented at its 15th annual conference, Nursing Leadership: Future Challenges and Opportunities, which took place this week at the Garden City Hotel, near the university’s main campus in Garden City, New York.

“There is no more deserving honoree for this prestigious recognition,” said G. Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN, FAAN, NLN, president and professor and associate vice chancellor/chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. “Bev has been a valued colleague and an inspiring mentor and role model to so many nurses and nurse educators over decades of experience.”

“My own mentors and role models, beginning with my great-grandmother, a dedicated natural healer, ignited my passion for healing and the welfare of others. It is on their shoulders I stand today,” said Dr. Malone. “My deepest thanks to the college, the university, and the honor society chapter for selecting me.”

Dr. Malone has been CEO of the NLN since 2007. Her full biography may be found on the NLN website here.
