Federal Authorities Must Take Steps to Deescalate Violence When Engaging in Law Enforcement Activities
Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing stands united with the nursing community in mourning the death of registered nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis this weekend. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the local community.
Additionally, we call for an impartial and independent investigation into his death. Furthermore, federal authorities must take all necessary steps to deescalate the potential for violent situations when they engage in law enforcement activities.
Nurses are our country’s most trusted health care providers who often run into danger to help those in need. They are also strong advocates for the safety and well-being of local communities and the nation.
The National League for Nursing will continue our advocacy and efforts to prevent violence against nurses and those they serve.
