Supplies/Ingredients
- two picture frames
- various IV catheters
- transparent adhesive dressings, such as Tegaderm
- extension set
- labels
- disinfecting cap
- glue stick
- hot glue gun
Steps to Creating the Solution
- Remove the backs of two picture frames.
- Line up the IV catheters with insertion needles beside them.
- Line up any other equipment you want to display
- Plug in the hot glue gun. Once it is ready to go, glue the equipment in place.
- Place labels near each catheter to show the gauge size and names of equipment.
- Glue the picture frames back-to-back. This allows the items to be viewed from top and bottom. If using two picture frames is not deep enough to display your equipment, add a third frame in the middle with everything removed (including the glass).
- If you want to make any notes on the glass to show the students, you can use a dry erase marker to write on it. Erase it with a tissue when finished.
- A variation of this is needle sizes showing length and gauge size along with usage of each: ID, IM, and Subq. Another variation is showing various syringe sizes.
