ICN Education Experts Advisory Committee
In September 2023, the National League for Nursing (NLN) and the International Council of Nurses (ICN) relaunched a joint global initiative, the ICN Education Experts Advisory Committee, to drive large-scale investment in nursing education worldwide. Reimagined from a committee first formed in 2009, this Committee is focused on expanding the global nursing education pipeline and ensuring future nurses are equipped to address emerging health challenges.
The ICN Education Experts Advisory Committee is housed within the NLN Institute for Diversity and Global Initiatives and led by Dr. Sandra Davis, who will serve as chair until 2028. The committee consists of 14 members, representing all six WHO regions.
The ICN Education Experts Advisory Committee aims to address:
- The role of nurse educators worldwide,
- The quality of nursing education,
- Opportunities and challenges of nursing education and clinical practice,
- Impact of international nursing and nursing faculty shortages on preparation of nurses, and
- Current global issues affecting the health of all (e.g., climate, nurse workforce shortages, advancing technology, AI, diversity, inclusion, health equity) as they relate to education.
