There are many different programs that provide training and faculty development in simulation. These programs prepare faculty to use simulation as a teaching strategy using best practices. These programs also help to prepare individuals to sit for national certification as simulation health care educators and/or simulation operators.
There is only one organization that provides internationally recognized certification in simulation. That is the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH). They provide 2 national certifications. These certifications have a national exam and specific criteria that needs to be met in order to qualify to sit for the exam.

The examination requires some experience and thoughtful preparation. Most workshops that are used to prepare you for the exam are “review” workshops that cover the certification test blueprints and help you to highlight your gap areas to target for individual study.
