NLN President & CEO Dr. Beverly Malone Named One of Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in 2023

Dr. Malone Honored for Her Long Term & Ongoing Work to Improve the Public Health

Washington, DC — Modern Healthcare, a leading publication in the health care field, has honored National League for Nursing President and CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, as one of the nation’s leading health care executives by naming her to the 2023 list of the Top 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in Healthcare. Since 2015, Dr. Malone has been consistently included in the magazine’s elite rankings of leading health care executives, medical professionals, policymakers, and leaders in government, business, and the nonprofit sector.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition. This is a validation of the mission of the National League for Nursing to promote excellence in nursing education to advance the health of the nation and global community,” said Dr. Malone. “This honor is not just for me but for all of those who work for and support the National League for Nursing, including our outstanding professional staff, dedicated Board of Governors, and the hundreds of committed members throughout the country who serve on committees and task forces. I am so grateful for their wisdom, experience, and scholarship that mirror the League’s core values of caring, integrity, diversity and inclusion, and excellence.”

NLN Chair Kathleen Poindexter, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, interim associate dean of academic affairs at Michigan State University in Lansing, said, “It is no surprise that Dr. Malone is consistently honored by the health care community for her visionary leadership and commitment to transformative health care and workplace culture, in response to complex 21st century business dynamics. She has proven herself to be a passionate advocate for advancing the practice readiness of graduates, addressing the nursing shortage, and promoting the professional development and well-being of nurse educators.”

The prestigious Top 50 Influential Clinical Executives list honors licensed clinicians in C-suite roles who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be paving the way to better health through their executive responsibility, leadership qualities, innovation, community service and achievements inside and outside of their respective organizations.

“The 50 clinical leaders we’ve recognized started as physicians or nurses, and regardless of their titles today, that strong foundation of caring for patients has benefited their organizations and communities,” Mary Ellen Podmolik, editor-in-chief of Modern Healthcare, said in releasing the list. “These executives are broadening access to care through expansion and embracing digital tools to make their operations more efficient and their patients more connected. They also are tackling workforce challenges by developing strategies to attract newcomers to the field. Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives are helping propel the industry forward.”
