Susan Dean EdD, MSN, CNE

Susan Deane specializes in technology-enhanced teaching, virtual simulation, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing education. With more than 25 years of leadership experience, including serving as Dean of Nursing at SUNY Delhi, she has led large-scale academic innovation, faculty development, and technology-enabled program design.

Dr. Deane has deep expertise in the integration of technology in nursing education, with longstanding work in virtual simulation and its role in developing clinical judgment and clinical reasoning. Her doctoral research examined the validity and effectiveness of virtual clinical experiences, grounding her work in evidence-based innovation. Building on this foundation, her current focus is on advancing AI competencies, strengthening clinical decision-making, and aligning education with evolving workforce needs. She holds a post-master’s certificate in Healthcare Informatics and an EdD in Higher Education Leadership, along with AI certifications from Auburn University, San Diego State University, and the American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and advises organizations on responsible, human-centered adoption of emerging technologies.

Dr. Deane is an experienced national presenter, delivering sessions on virtual simulation, online course development, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. She also facilitates panel discussions, contributing to dynamic, collaborative dialogue that advances innovation in nursing education and practice.
