NLN Assessment Services is a leading provider of online assessment, analytics, and consulting solutions for nursing institutions, schools, and programs as well as hospitals and home health care providers. Established in 1939, NLN Assessment Services offers testing products to schools of nursing, from pre-admission to NCLEX preparation and for nurses already in practice.

NLN Assessment Services is a division of Enterprise Development at the National League for Nursing, the leader in nursing education that provides programs, resources, and events for nurse educators across the nation. Founded in 1893, the NLN is the first nursing association in the U.S. and the first assessment publisher in nursing. The NLN is also the leader in credentialing and certification for nurse educators recognizing their professionalism, expertise, achievements, and adherence to the highest standards of excellence in teaching and learning.

NLN Assessment Services uses advanced data analytics and powerful content enabling nurse educators to help their students master the core skills required to ensure clinical readiness and to pass the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX). The NLN’s approach to the Next Generation NCLEX involves integrating NCLEX-style test items into assessments integrating clinical reasoning early and through exposure to developing case studies of increasing complexity as the students move through their program.

By providing early and frequent exposure to practice items in the NCLEX style, students can improve their testing performance while sharpening their reasoning and problem-solving skills. The NLN Assessment Services team also provides superior customer service while boosting the success of nursing students by helping them achieve their professional goals. Currently, NLN Assessment Services administers 100,000 exams yearly across the nation.

Together with nursing schools and programs, the NLN is focused on preparing the next generation of nurse educators and leaders so they are ready to provide skilled nursing education to help create and maintain a highly skilled and diverse nursing workforce. We are passionate about the ability of assessments to go beyond screening to provide information about student abilities, strengths, skill gaps, and remedial needs. The NLN Assessment Services team provides insights, enhances faculty engagement in course delivery, and informs ways to adjust curriculum to appeal to a diverse range of learning styles in today’s nursing students.

The test development process involves committees of key nurse educators nationwide who are subject matter experts, to review, refine, and develop new assessment products. This ongoing process ensures that NLN assessments meet or exceed industry quality standards of validity and reliability. NLN Assessment Services aligns with the NLN Core Values of Caring, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence.
