SIRC Courses Reimagined

Reimagining Simulation Education

As nursing education continues to evolve, the NLN continues to meet the challenges learners face in developing critical thinking skills and translating them into action, within the context of patient care through simulation-based education. Underpinned by theory and evidence, simulation education consists of diverse teaching strategies aimed at supporting learners in their emergence as competent and caring clinicians.

Developing, implementing and evaluating immersive and evidence-based simulation experiences for learners requires nurse educators to develop a highly specialized skill set in the art and science of dialog, teaching pedagogy and psychological safety.

A new NLN SIRC series of reimagined online courses, Foundation and Deeper Dive Courses, have been designed to provide a scaffolded approach for nurse educators to achieve the professional development needed to curate the skills that enhance the learning experience.

Foundation Courses

Designed as a virtual, asynchronous, and self-paced experience. Learners have access to these courses for 1 year.

Deeper Dive Courses

Designed as a virtual, synchronous experience, with expert simulation educator facilitation. Approximately 1 hour of preparatory work may be required prior to attending the synchronous session. Course-related content will be accessible for three weeks.
