Scholarships & Research Grants

We are proud to be the leading member organization providing scholarships specifically to nurse educators. With your help, we have been able to increase the funding for scholarships every year for the past three years. In 2023, we awarded 15 scholarships and a total of $96,300 to nursing students across the nursing education spectrum. Your support, in addition to our partnership with Amy Nichols and Health Carousel, directly helped these students.

Meet the scholarship winners:

The NLN’s research grants program supports rigorous, high-quality pedagogical research studies. You helped nurse educators receive over $60,000 to advance the science of nursing education by contributing to our endowment funds and making donations to the NLN Foundation.

1 New Scholarship: Health Carousel Foundation Nurse Educator Scholarship Award!

With the generous support of our NLN members, the NLN launched a brand new scholarship in 2023 the Health Carousel Nurse Educator Scholarship Award. This scholarship supports nurses and nurse educators enrolled in an accredited graduate-level program who received their initial nursing degree outside of the United States but are now registered in the U.S. and pursuing advanced degrees to further their careers as a full-time nurse educator.

Advisory Council

To bridge the gap between education and practice, the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education formed our Advisory Council in 2016. The council consists of members from all sectors to provide expertise and guidance to the NLN Foundation.  Last year, our council welcomed four new members representing industry-leading organizations. The NLN Foundation continues to evolve and grow thanks to the leadership and kind donations given to support our mission.

Advisory Council Commitment

  • One in-person meeting at the NLN Education Summit

Fit for the Future

The NLN Foundation hosted its first in-person Fit for the Future 5K event in September. The event not only triumphed in both turnout and spirit, but also demonstrated its profound impact by raising almost $8,000 to support the NLN Foundation. The vibrant atmosphere and overwhelming community support combined to create a memorable and successful experience, establishing a strong foundation for future editions while making a significant contribution to the community

Charitable Giving

In 2023, the NLN Foundation earned the support of our members and together we gave $4,950 to various charities such as the Syrian American Medical Society Foundation, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Direct Relief, MSU College of Nursing – Emergency Fund, Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, United Way Maui, International Medical Corps, Nurses House, Doctors Without Borders, Nova Ukraine, and World Central Kitchen.
